Accurate Level Monitoring of Fluids on UAVs
The Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) was first developed for warfare activities in the early 20th century. Nowadays, its applications have evolved to include commercial, agriculture, surveillance, mapping, mining operations, etc.
Fuel management has always been one of the main challenges of UAVs, especially if a variable payload (cargo weight) is involved. With every drop of fuel accountable to complete a task, it is crucial that fuel is tracked down to the last drop, which other level sensors cannot deliver due to product weight and length limitations.
For over five years, GILL Sensors & Controls has been instrumental in providing the UAV industry with LevelLite level sensors to reliably and accurately measure fluids down to the bottom of the fuel tank.
Contact ADM if you experience a similar fluid measurement challenge in any of your applications, we can help you.
What is a GILL LevelLite Level Sensor?

GILL LevelLite is a lightweight liquid level sensor made with aluminium, which was originally intended for sports cars and aerospace applications.
It is highly accurate, compact with no moving parts, and designed to measure oils, coolant, fuels, and water-based liquids including those from irregularly shaped fuel tanks.
How does LevelLite Work on UAVs and Drones?
UAVs and drones are a safe and cost-effective means for a variety of applications only if they can return to base successfully. This is only possible if fuel is tracked accurately and is accounted for the entire assignment.
LevelLite is made according to specifications, so users can specify the sensor length down to millimeters. This accurate length ensures that fluid is measured to the very end of the tank.
LevelLite Features
LevelLite is quality tested to high standards with IP68 and IP66 protection rating, 0-5V analogue communication, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), shock and vibration. There are various sizes available for tank depths up to 750mm (about 2.46 ft) deep.
