Harting Connectors: Protection against EMI Interference
Designing for high-powered installations often requires accounting for a variety of risks, including electromagnetic interference. This is a common occurrence in installations where low-level signals and high-speed data are in close proximity within control cabinets.
Harting has a range of housing options designed to support electromagnetic compatibility at the system level and minimise EMI within the overall connector/cable/enclosure system.
The Harting range deploys two shielding features within its designs to provide resistance to EMI;
Nickel-coated zinc die-cast housings.
- Nickel coating provides a highly conductive, corrosion-resistant outer layer that intercepts incoming radiation and safely grounds stray currents away from internal contacts.
Labyrinth Geometry composition
- The profile of the connectors is designed to feature multi-angled paths that help reduce EMI ingress, maintaining shielding continuity. Additionally, housings feature 360° overlapping contact points, reducing gap voids and preventing high-frequency radiation from passing through.
Electrical designers can select from a range of Harting products depending on their specific needs, with EMI-protected housing options for the following;
Han A EMC & Han B EMC Connectors
- Designed for standard- to heavy-duty industrial applications, these connectors are suited for compact installations where space is limited.
Han High Performance Railway (Han HPR)
- Designed for extreme environmental conditions of high vibration, weather, and dust, the HPR series meets maximum shielding requirements for railway traction systems and outdoor high-power distribution.
Han HP Direct
- Designed specifically for panel wall mounting with sealing gaskets maximising continuous conductive area for demanding EMC applications.
