How to Install the Pulsar PDFM 6.1 Portable Doppler Flow Meter

What are the Basic Requirements of Pulsar PDFM6.1 Meter Installation? 

To get the best of your Pulsar PDFM6.1 meter, a proper installation setup is advantageous. However, despite some less-than-ideal situations, it often still works successfully due to its advanced technology, see photos below.

Ideally, the transducers must be installed on a straight run of pipe, free of bends, tees, valves, transitions insertion probes and obstructions of any kind. For most installations, 10 straight unobstructed pipe diameters upstream and five diameters downstream of the transducers is the minimum recommended distance for proper operation. 

Benefits of Pulsar PDFM6.1 Doppler Flow Meter 

The Pulsar PDFM6.1 works on the principle of Doppler effect, which relies on shifts of waves reflecting off solids and gas. It can, therefore, provide measurements from outside the pipe, without the need to be in contact with the media, thus eliminating contamination and leak-related issues. 

As a clamp-on device, PDFM6.1 can be installed within minutes – no need to configure pipe material, wall thickness, liner configuration, or fluid characteristics prior to installation. 

The Pulsar PDFM 6.1 also has an IP67 protection rating and is equipped with advanced signal processing, capable of filtering out background noise and interference, so this can be used in outdoor applications.
