The Optidrive’s Fire Mode function is an emergency setting triggered by a particular digital input. Upon activation, the drive essentially "locks in" to an emergency operating mode, superseding a number of its standard security safeguards.
In this mode, the variable frequency drive will continue to monitor and respond to serious problems that could result in damage while disregarding lesser defects that would ordinarily prompt shutdown. In any event, the ultimate purpose of the Optidrive Fire Mode is to ensure the system operates in critical emergency events.
The Optidrive, under emergency fire conditions, is enabled to ignore many faults. However, a handful of faults are fixed as critical to mission success. These include over- and under-voltage on the DC Bus, fast overcurrent trips, instantaneous overcurrent on the drive output, and drive output faults; all other errors are ignored during an emergency response.
Designed for the unique challenges of emergency events, the Optidrive’s Fire Mode can be programmed to suit system designers’ unique needs, with options including continuous speed or fluctuating speed references provided by a central control system.
