The Harting 09300105407 Han 10B Protect Cover with Pin Thermoplastic is a lightweight protection cover from HARTING's Han® B series, designed to seal a size 10B connector housing — bulkhead mounted or surface mounted — whenever the connector is left unmated. Made from thermoplastic rather than die-cast metal, it offers a cost-effective, lightweight solution for protecting the housing and its insert from dust and moisture ingress during storage, installation, and maintenance, while still meeting the same IP65 environmental standard as HARTING's metal cover alternatives.

IP65 Protection, Broad Temperature Range

Fitted to the housing, the cover achieves IP65 to IEC 60529 — total dust exclusion and protection against water jets from any direction. UL 50 / UL 50E Type ratings of 4, 4X, and 12 provide recognised North American equivalents, covering windblown rain and hose-directed water (Type 4), corrosion resistance (Type 4X), and indoor protection against dust and dripping non-corrosive liquids (Type 12). The operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C means it performs reliably from cold-store environments to high-heat industrial plant rooms.

Double Locking Lever Engagement with Securing Pin

The cover is designed for use with 10B housings fitted with double locking levers. It engages with the housing levers and includes a securing pin that locks the cover firmly in place, preventing accidental displacement from vibration or incidental contact. This is a deliberate design choice for 10B applications where the larger housing and its twin lever system require a cover retention method that matches the robustness of the connection it protects.

Thermoplastic Construction — Light, Compliant, Versatile

At just 20 grams, the thermoplastic body is significantly lighter than the die-cast metal equivalent, which is an advantage in weight-sensitive installations or where a large number of connectors need covering simultaneously. Despite the lighter material, it maintains full RoHS and ELV compliance and contains no substances listed under REACH Annex XIV, Annex XVII, or the SVHC candidate list. It also meets EN 45545-2 (2020-08) fire protection requirements for railway vehicles at Hazard Levels 1–3 (requirement sets R22 and R23) — an important qualification for rail rolling stock and trackside equipment, where thermoplastic components must satisfy strict flammability and smoke criteria.
