The Harting 09300105423 The Han 10B Protect Cover Die Cast is a die-cast metal protection cover from HARTING's Han® B series, designed specifically for size 10B cable hoods — the plug/cable side of the connector assembly. When the hood is unmated and left exposed during installation, maintenance, or transit, this cover seals it against dust and moisture, preserving the integrity of the contacts and housing until the connector is next required. It's the hood-side counterpart to the base protection covers, and an essential accessory for any 10B installation where connectors are regularly disconnected.

Built for the Hood, Not the Base

This is an important distinction within the Han B accessory range: this cover is designed for hoods (the cable side), not for bulkhead-mounted or surface-mounted bases. IP65 Protection and Wide Temperature Range

Fitted to the hood, the cover achieves IP65 to IEC 60529, fully blocking dust ingress and resisting water jets from any direction. UL 50 / UL 50E Type ratings of 4, 4X, and 12 extend that recognition to North American specifications, confirming protection against windblown rain and hose-directed water (Type 4), corrosion resistance (Type 4X), and indoor protection against dust and dripping non-corrosive liquids (Type 12). The operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C covers cold chain, outdoor, and high-heat industrial environments alike.

Double Locking Levers, Han-Easy Lock® Compatible, with Fixing Cord

The cover engages with the hood's double locking levers and is fully compatible with HARTING's Han-Easy Lock® system, allowing single-handed simultaneous engagement of both levers. An integrated fixing cord tethers the cover to the hood itself, so when it's removed to mate the connector it remains attached rather than being set aside and lost. The locking lever components are polycarbonate and stainless steel, rated UL 94 V-0 for flame retardancy. An NBR seal maintains the IP65 rating across the full temperature range and resists oils and common industrial fluids.

Die-Cast Metal Construction

The cover body is die-cast metal — mechanically robust and able to withstand the handling, vibration, and incidental impacts of active industrial use. At 90g, it's heavier than the thermoplastic alternative but offers greater durability for applications where the cable assembly is regularly moved, reconnected, and subjected to physical stress.

Certifications and Compliance

The cover holds DNV GL approval for marine and offshore installations, and meets EN 45545-2 (2020-08) fire protection requirements for railway vehicles at Hazard Levels 1–3 (requirement sets R22 and R23). It is RoHS and ELV compliant. REACH Annex XIV and Annex XVII substances are not contained. However, two REACH SVHC substances are present: 6,6'-di-tert-butyl-2,2'-methylenedi-p-cresol and Potassium 1,1,2,2,3,3,4,4,4-nonafluorobutane-1-sulphonate (ECHA SCIP number 16ca3004-52e6-46fa-bf13-9c1e1b30f813).
