RJI 10G RJ45 Plug Cat6, 8P IDC straight
The Harting 09451511560 RJI 10G RJ45 Plug Cat6 8p IDC Straight (09 45 151 1560) is an industrial-grade field-terminable RJ45 cable connector from the HARTING RJ Industrial® series. Where standard RJ45 patch connectors are designed for structured cabling in controlled IT environments, the RJI 10G is engineered for Ethernet connectivity in harsh industrial conditions — with 360° shielding, vibration and shock ratings to IEC 61373, DNV GL marine/offshore approval, railway compliance per EN 45545-2, and Cat.6 Class EA performance up to 500 MHz supporting 10 Gigabit Ethernet. IDC (Insulation Displacement Connector) termination enables fast, reliable field assembly without wire stripping.
HARTING RJ Industrial®: Industrial Ethernet at the Connection Point
Standard RJ45 connectors are not designed for the electrical noise, temperature extremes, mechanical vibration, or repeated mating cycles common in factory automation, process control, rail, and marine environments. The HARTING RJ Industrial® range addresses this gap by providing a ruggedised RJ45-interface connector that mates with any standard RJ45 jack but delivers the shielding integrity, mechanical robustness, and certified reliability that industrial Ethernet applications demand.
The RJI 10G is the Cat.6/10GbE member of the family — supporting data rates from 10 Mbit/s through to 10 Gbit/s on a single connector, future-proofing installations for bandwidth growth without infrastructure replacement.
IDC Termination: Fast and Reliable Field Assembly
IDC (Insulation Displacement Connector) termination works by pressing the conductor into a slotted metal blade that simultaneously displaces the wire's insulation and makes direct contact with the copper conductor. This eliminates the stripping, tinning, or crimping steps required by other termination methods, reducing assembly time and eliminating strip-length errors as a source of termination failure. IDC termination produces a gas-tight contact with consistent performance across the full conductor cross-section range of 0.1–0.32 mm² (AWG 27 to AWG 22), for both solid and stranded wire.
Cable outer diameter compatibility is 4.5–9 mm, covering the typical range of Cat.6 and Cat.6A cable constructions.
Cat.6 Class EA: 10 Gigabit Ethernet Performance
The connector is rated to Cat.6 Class EA per ISO/IEC 11801 and EN 50173-1, supporting channel frequencies up to 500 MHz. Class EA is the performance class required for 10GBase-T (IEEE 802.3an) — 10 Gigabit Ethernet over twisted pair at distances up to 100 m. The supported data rate stack covers the full Ethernet progression: 10 Mbit/s (10BASE-T), 100 Mbit/s (Fast Ethernet), 1 Gbit/s (Gigabit Ethernet), 2.5 Gbit/s, 5 Gbit/s, and 10 Gbit/s.
PROFINET compatibility is confirmed — the connector is suitable for PROFINET Industrial Ethernet networks.
360° Shielding for Industrial EMI Environments
The connector provides full 360° circumferential shielding contact, maintaining shield continuity from cable to mating interface. In industrial environments where power cables, variable-frequency drives, motors, and switching equipment generate significant electromagnetic interference, shield continuity at every connector is critical to maintaining signal integrity and preventing network errors. A partial or discontinuous shield — common in unshielded or poorly shielded RJ45 connectors — creates an EMI ingress point that defeats the protection of a shielded cable.
Mechanical and Environmental Ratings
The RJI 10G is rated to IP20 per IEC 60529 — protection against solid objects greater than 12.5 mm, suitable for enclosed panel or cabinet mounting. Mating cycles are rated at ≥750. Vibration resistance is tested to 10–500 Hz at 5 g and 0.35 mm displacement (2 h per axis), and to IEC 61373 Category 1 Class B at 7.9 m/s² — the same standard applied to railway rolling stock equipment. Shock resistance is 25 g / 11 ms per IEC 61373 Category 1 Class B. Operating temperature range is -40°C to +70°C.
Insertion and withdrawal force is 25 N, consistent with standard RJ45 interface mechanics (IEC 60603-7 mating face).
Materials
The insert body is yellow PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) thermoplastic resin — a material chosen for dimensional stability, chemical resistance, and UL 94 V-0 flammability performance. The hood/housing is black polyamide (PA). Contacts are copper alloy. All plastic materials meet UL 94 V-0 flammability classification.
