Description

The Harting 09478411002 RJ45 – M12 X-Code Cable Assembly 2.0 m PVC is a factory-terminated, Cat.6A / Class EA industrial Ethernet patch cable bridging two major connector ecosystems: an M12 X-coded male straight connector at one end and a HARTING RJ Industrial® Gigalink straight connector at the other. The 2 m yellow PVC cable with 8x AWG 26/7 copper conductors delivers full 10 Gigabit Ethernet performance up to 500 MHz, making it the ready-to-install solution for connecting M12-ported field devices, industrial switches, or sensors to RJ45-equipped controllers, patch panels, or industrial PCs. Factory assembly eliminates field termination of both ends simultaneously, ensuring consistent channel performance from installation.

M12 X-Coding: Industrial Ethernet in a Circular Connector

M12 circular connectors are the standard interface for sensors, actuators, and field devices in factory automation and process control — chosen for their compact form factor, robust screw coupling, and high IP-rated sealing. However, M12 connectors exist in multiple codings (A, B, C, D, X and others), each mechanically keyed to prevent cross-mating with incompatible interfaces.

X-coding is the M12 coding defined for 8-pin Cat.6A / 10 Gigabit Ethernet per IEC 61076-2-109. It was introduced specifically because the earlier D-coding (4-pin, 100 Mbit Ethernet) could not accommodate the 8 conductors required for full-duplex Gigabit and 10 Gigabit operation. An X-coded plug cannot be accidentally mated with a D-coded socket or other M12 codings, preventing signal degradation and connector damage in mixed-interface installations.

The M12 X-coded male connector on this assembly is straight (inline with the cable axis), suitable for panel-mount receptacles on field devices, IP67-rated managed switches, and industrial Ethernet infrastructure equipment.

HARTING RJ Industrial® Gigalink: The RJ45 End

The RJ45 end terminates in a HARTING RJ Industrial® Gigalink connector — the RJI variant optimised for Gigabit and multi-gigabit Ethernet performance. This provides a standard RJ45 interface compatible with any Cat.6A or Cat.6 RJ45 jack on a switch, router, industrial PC, or patch panel, while maintaining the full Cat.6A Class EA channel performance of the assembly. The straight orientation suits direct connection to front-facing switch ports or panel-mount RJ45 jacks without cable strain.

Cat.6A Class EA / 10 Gigabit Ethernet Performance

The complete assembly is rated to Cat.6A Class EA up to 500 MHz — the performance tier required for 10GBase-T (IEEE 802.3an) and supporting the full data rate progression: 10 Mbit/s (10BASE-T), 100 Mbit/s (Fast Ethernet), 1 Gbit/s (Gigabit Ethernet / 1000BASE-T), 2.5 Gbit/s, 5 Gbit/s, and 10 Gbit/s. Using a factory-terminated, tested assembly from a single manufacturer ensures the channel insertion loss, return loss, and crosstalk parameters are verified across the whole 2 m length — something field-terminated assemblies require separate testing to confirm.

Cable Construction

8-core round copper cable with PVC outer jacket in yellow. Core structure is 8x AWG 26/7 — each of the 8 conductors consists of 7 strands of AWG 26 wire, giving the stranded flexibility needed for routing in cabinet environments while maintaining the conductor cross-section required for Cat.6A performance. PVC jacket provides chemical resistance appropriate for general industrial environments. Operating temperature range is -40°C to +70°C. Net weight 135.12 g.

Compliance

RoHS compliant with exemption 6(c) — copper alloy contacts containing up to 4% lead by weight. ELV compliant with exemption. China RoHS: 50. REACH Annex XIV and Annex XVII: not contained. REACH SVHC: Yes — Potassium 1,1,2,2,3,3,4,4,4-nonafluorobutane-1-sulphonate and Lead are present above threshold. California Proposition 65 substances: Lead and Nickel present
