Han E Removal Tool

The HARTING Removal Tool Han E® (09 99 000 0319) is a dedicated extraction tool for removing individual Han E® crimp or screw contacts from Han E® series inserts without damaging the insert or the contact retention mechanism. It is a necessary tool for anyone assembling, rewiring, or maintaining Han E® connector installations — the counterpart to the Han Crimp Tool with Locator (09 99 000 0021) used to terminate Han E® crimp contacts. 

Why the Correct Removal Tool Is Essential

Contacts in Han E® inserts are held in position by a retention lance or spring clip moulded into the insert body. This mechanism prevents contact migration during service and resists pull-out under cable tension. When a contact must be removed — for rewiring, replacing a damaged contact, or reconfiguring a circuit — this retention mechanism must be depressed precisely while the contact is withdrawn from the rear of the insert.

The Han E® removal tool is sized and profiled specifically for the Han E® contact and insert geometry. Using the wrong tool — an incorrect size, a generic probe, etc. — risks breaking the retention lance inside the insert, destroying the insert and requiring complete replacement rather than simple contact substitution. The Han E® tool engages the retention clip cleanly, allowing the contact to slide free without damage to the insert or the contact itself.

Correct Tool Selection Within the Han® Range

HARTING produces series-specific removal tools — the Han E® tool is not interchangeable with tools for Han D® (09 99 000 0012), Han B®, Han A®, or other contact families. Each series uses a different contact diameter and retention geometry, requiring a corresponding tool profile. When ordering, confirm the connector series in your installation. For workshops handling both Han D® and Han E® connectors, both tools should be stocked.
