Han Removal Tool for Single Modules
The HARTING 09 99 000 0828 Removal Tool Han-Mod for Single Modules is a metal removal tool for extracting individual functional modules from HARTING Han-Modular®, Han-Eco®, and Han-Yellock® connector housings. Unlike contact-level removal tools (which extract individual pins or sockets from an insert), this tool operates at the module level — releasing the locking mechanism that retains a complete functional module within its housing frame, allowing it to be withdrawn and replaced without disturbing adjacent modules.
Han-Modular®, Han-Eco®, and Han-Yellock®: The Modular Connector Concept
HARTING's Han-Modular® system is built around the principle of combining different functional connector types within a single housing. Rather than specifying a connector with a fixed number of identical contacts, the Han-Modular® platform allows power modules, signal modules, Ethernet modules, pneumatic modules, fibre optic modules, and other specialised interfaces to be assembled side-by-side in one connector housing. The result is a single connector that carries power, data, and control signals simultaneously — reducing the number of separate connectors on a machine or panel and simplifying cable management.
Each module snaps into the housing frame and is retained by a locking tab or clip. Han-Eco® is a cost-optimised variant of the same modular concept using lightweight plastic housings. Han-Yellock® extends the system with push-in termination modules for fast, tool-free wiring.
Module-Level vs. Contact-Level Removal
It is important to distinguish between two different removal operations in HARTING Han® systems:
Contact-level removal extracts individual crimp or screw contacts from within an insert or module — requiring tools such as the Removal Tool Han E® (09 99 000 0319) or Removal Tool Han D® (09 99 000 0012).
Module-level removal extracts a complete functional module — with all its contacts and terminations intact — from the housing frame. This is what the Han-Mod removal tool (09 99 000 0828) does. It is used when a module needs to be replaced as a unit, when the housing configuration is being reconfigured, or when a module must be removed to access the housing for servicing.
Using the correct tool for the correct operation prevents damage to the module locking tabs and the housing frame.
Metal Construction
The tool body is metal, providing the rigidity and durability needed to apply consistent lever force to release module locking clips without flexing or breaking. Plastic tools can deform under the force required to release a firmly seated module, leading to incomplete release and potential damage to the housing. The metal construction also gives the tool a long service life in workshop environments where it will be used repeatedly.
Correct Tool Selection
This tool is specifically designed for Han-Modular®, Han-Eco®, and Han-Yellock® single module removal. It is not the appropriate tool for contact extraction (use the contact-specific removal tools) or for removing complete insert assemblies from Han B® or Han E® housings. When ordering tooling for a HARTING Han® installation, identify whether your maintenance operations require module-level or contact-level removal — and stock the corresponding tools accordingly.
