The HARTING 09300245422 Han B Protect Cover Die Cast for Hood PG is a die-cast metal protection cover from HARTING's Han® B series, designed to seal size 24B cable hoods with PG cable entry whenever the connector is left unmated. The "PG" designation is important: this cover is specifically made for Han B 24B hoods that use PG (Panzergewinde) cable gland entries — the threaded cable entry format widely used in industrial connector housings. Hoods with metric or other entry configurations require a different cover variant, so matching on cable entry type is essential when specifying this accessory.

Hood-Side Protection at 24B Scale

This is a hood-side (cable side) protection cover — it fits over the cable hood, not the base housing. When a 24B cable hood is disconnected from its base and left unmated, this cover seals the mating face against dust and moisture, maintaining the integrity of the connector insert and contacts until the connector is next required. It is the 24B PG counterpart to the 10B die-cast hood cover (09 30 010 5423) and carries the same core environmental specification at the larger size.

IP65, Wide Temperature Range, Han-Easy Lock® Compatible

Fitted to the hood, the cover achieves IP65 to IEC 60529 — complete dust exclusion and resistance to water jets from any direction. UL 50 / UL 50E Type ratings of 4, 4X, and 12 provide the recognised North American equivalents: protection against windblown rain and hose-directed water (Type 4), corrosion resistance (Type 4X), and indoor protection against dust and dripping non-corrosive liquids (Type 12). Operating range is -40°C to +125°C. The cover engages via double locking levers and is Han-Easy Lock® compatible for fast one-handed engagement, with an integrated fixing cord keeping it tethered to the hood when removed.

The body is die-cast metal — robust enough for the handling and environmental demands of active industrial use. At 100g it is the heaviest protection cover in this range, reflecting the larger 24B footprint. The NBR seal provides reliable IP65 performance across the full temperature range and resists oils and common industrial fluids. Locking levers are polycarbonate and stainless steel, rated UL 94 V-0 for flame retardancy.

The cover carries DNV GL approval for marine and offshore use, and meets EN 45545-2 (2020-08) fire protection requirements for railway vehicles at Hazard Levels 1–3 under requirement sets R22 and R23. It is RoHS and ELV compliant, with REACH Annex XIV and Annex XVII substances not contained. One REACH SVHC substance is present: Potassium 1,1,2,2,3,3,4,4,4-nonafluorobutane-1-sulphonate (ECHA SCIP number 16ca3004-52e6-46fa-bf13-9c1e1b30f813).
