Harting Han B Protect Cover Die Cast for Base 24B

The Harting Han B Protect Cover Die Cast for Base 24B is a die-cast metal protection cover from HARTING's Han® B series, designed to seal size 24B bulkhead-mounted and surface-mounted connector bases whenever the connector is left unmated. It is the base-side counterpart to the Han B Protect Cover Die Cast for Hood PG 24B (09 30 024 5422), completing the protection cover pair for the full 24B Han B connector assembly — one cover for the panel base, one for the cable hood.

Base-Side Protection at the Largest Han B Scale

At size 24B, this cover protects the highest contact capacity base housing in the standard Han B range. Wherever a 24B bulkhead or surface-mounted base is disconnected — during installation, maintenance, storage, or transit — this cover seals it against dust ingress and moisture, preserving the integrity of the connector insert and mating contacts until the assembly is next brought into service. The metal die-cast body provides the mechanical robustness needed for industrial environments where exposed connectors can be subject to physical handling and knocks.

IP65, Full Temperature Range, Fixing Cord Retention

Fitted to the base housing, the cover achieves IP65 to IEC 60529 — complete dust exclusion and resistance to water jets from any direction. UL 50 / UL 50E Type ratings of 4, 4X, and 12 confirm the equivalent North American classifications: protection against windblown rain and hose-directed water (Type 4), corrosion resistance (Type 4X), and indoor protection against dust and dripping non-corrosive liquids (Type 12). Operating range is -40°C to +125°C. An integrated fixing cord tethers the cover to the housing so it stays attached when removed to mate the connector, preventing it from being misplaced during maintenance cycles. Engagement is via double locking levers suited to the 24B housing geometry.

The cover is RoHS and ELV compliant. REACH Annex XIV, Annex XVII, and SVHC substances are all confirmed not contained — a clean REACH profile. It meets EN 45545-2 (2020-08) fire protection requirements for railway vehicles at Hazard Levels 1–3 under requirement sets R22 and R23, and carries DNV GL approval for marine and offshore applications.
