Submersible DC to DC LVDT; Supply 24V, 4-20mA 2 wire
One of the most durable and dependable position sensing devices on the market is the DCWC, a sturdy displacement transducer made of stainless steel that operates on the LVDT (Linear Variable Differential Transformer) principle. It provides clean data, unlimited resolution, and a long service life even under challenging circumstances because there is no electrical contact across the sensing element.
The DCWC is fully submersible, meaning that it can function when submerged in appropriate non-magnetic fluids that can flood the armature tube without impairing performance. The DCWC's industry-standard 4-20m is what distinguishes it from other DCW family transducers. For lengthy cable runs and loud industrial settings where a voltage signal would be problematic, a 2-wire current loop output is perfect. It operates on a 12V to 36V supply, with a maximum loop resistance of (supply voltage − 11) × 50Ω and an inward full scale of 4mA.
The DCWC is available in three configurations:
- Unguided — the armature is a separate component that the user guides externally, giving fully non-contact operation where alignment is already provided
- Captive guided — internal bearings guide the armature within the body, suited to applications where external alignment may be poor or end bearings are needed
- Spring return — guided with an integral spring returning the armature to the fully extended position, useful when it can't be mechanically coupled to the moving component
Depending on the model, measurement ranges range from ±2.5mm to ±470mm, with a 250Hz analogue output bandwidth and linearity error as tight as ±0.1% F.S. on specific ranges. The maximum static pressure is 21 MPa, and the operating temperature range is -10°C to 70°C. To accommodate various installation and environmental requirements, a variety of electrical termination choices are offered, including connector, solder-pin, integrated cable, and mineral-insulated stainless steel cable.
