Submersible DC to DC LVDT; Supply ±15V, Output ±5v
The DCWH is a sturdy displacement transducer made of stainless steel that operates on the LVDT (Linear Variable Differential Transformer) principle, which is thought to be the most dependable and durable position sensing device on the market. The DCWH provides clean data, infinite resolution, and a long service life even in harsh environments because there is no electrical contact across the sensing element.
Because it is fully submersible, it can function when submerged in appropriate non-magnetic fluids, which can flood the armature tube without impairing performance. It eliminates the need for extra excitation or conditioning equipment and offers the simplicity of a simple DC supply (±12 to ±18V) with a ±5V DC output thanks to built-in signal conditioning circuits.
The DCWH is available in three configurations to suit different application needs:
- Unguided — for use where external guidance keeps the armature aligned, giving fully non-contact operation
- Captive guided — internal bearings guide the armature, ideal where alignment can't be guaranteed
- Spring return — guided with an integral spring that returns the armature to the fully extended position, useful when the armature can't be mechanically coupled to the moving component
Measurement ranges span from ±2.5mm up to ±470mm depending on model, with linearity error as good as ±0.1% F.S. on select ranges. A choice of electrical termination options — including connectorized, solder-pin, integral cable, and mineral-insulated stainless steel cable versions — supports operating temperatures from -40°C to 200°C and static pressures up to 21MPa, depending on the option selected.
