Submersible DC to DC LVDT; Supply 6-18Vdc, Output ±2.2V Isolated

Description

One of the most durable and dependable position sensing devices on the market is the DCWL, a sturdy displacement transducer made of stainless steel that operates on the LVDT (Linear Variable Differential Transformer) principle. It provides clean data, unlimited resolution, and a long service life even in harsh settings because there is no electrical contact across the sensing element.

The DCWL is fully submersible and can function when submerged in appropriate non-magnetic fluids. The armature tube can be flooded without impairing performance. It has the simplicity of a straightforward DC supply and DC output thanks to built-in signal conditioning: 6V to 18V DC in (60mA usual), ±2.2V out, and complete supply/output isolation. This feature is helpful in noisy electrical situations or where galvanic separation from the supply is necessary.

The DCWL is available in three configurations:

  • Unguided — a separate armature for truly non-contact operation where external guidance is already provided
  • Captive guided — bearing-guided armature with end bearings, for applications where guidance may be poor
  • Spring return — bearing-guided with a return spring, for use where the armature can't be directly coupled to the moving component

Depending on the model, measurement ranges range from ±12.5mm to ±470mm, with a flat 200Hz bandwidth, an output impedance of 2Ω, and linearity error as tight as ±0.1% F.S. on specific ranges. The operating temperature range is -40°C to 70°C, and the maximum static pressure is 21MPa. To accommodate various installation and environmental requirements, a variety of electrical termination choices are offered, including connector, solder-pin, integrated cable, and mineral-insulated stainless steel cable.
