Submersible DC to DC LVDT; Supply 24V, Output 0-10V Isolated
Based on the LVDT (Linear Variable Differential Transformer) sensing concept, the DCWV is a submersible displacement transducer made of stainless steel. The DCWV is ideal for tough mining, transportation, and manufacturing applications because it provides clean, endlessly resolvable position data with a very long service life and high cycle life because there is no electrical contact across the sensor element.
The DCWV operates directly off a DC source and produces a DC signal since it contains integrated signal conditioning circuits, unlike a raw LVDT. This eliminates the need for an additional amplifier or oscillator/demodulator. It provides an isolated 0-10V output (0V = inward full scale) with 2Ω output impedance, 30mV peak-to-peak output ripple, and a 200Hz analogue bandwidth after accepting a 14V to 26V input (30mA). A typical temperature coefficient is ±0.03% F.S./°C across an operating range of -40°C to 70°C. The standard linearity error is ±0.5% F.S., with ±0.25% or ±0.1% F.S. available for certain models. It has a maximum static pressure rating of 21 MPa.
The DCWV is perfect for wet or submerged measuring situations because it is submersible and may be inundated by non-magnetic fluids without impairing performance.
To accommodate various mounting requirements, the DCWV series is available in three variants with a travel range of ±12.5mm to ±470mm:
- Unguided — a separate armature for truly non-contact operation where external guidance is already provided
- Captive guided — bearing-guided armature with end bearings, for applications where guidance may be poor
- Spring return — bearing-guided with a return spring, for use where the armature can't be directly coupled to the moving component
The DCWV can be configured for a variety of installation and environmental requirements thanks to a variety of electrical termination options, such as standard end-exit connectors, solder-pin terminations, integral sleeved cables, mineral-insulated stainless steel cable (rated to 200°C), and side-exit connector/cable variants.
