ADM Provides Customised Instrumentation Testing and Diagnostics
Accurate measurement, display, and logging of industrial process parameters like temperature, voltage, and current are essential for regulatory compliance, safety, and consistent product quality.
An Australian company that manufactures and repairs industrial furnaces and thermal processing solutions encountered erratic temperature readings from its Eurotherm 6100A recorder and approached ADM to diagnose and validate the unit’s performance.
Case Study: Investigating Temperature Drift through Extended Testing of Eurotherm 6100A
The customer’s Eurotherm 6100A paperless recorder showed temperature readings that shifted by several degrees after approximately 30 minutes of operation. This raised concerns about measurement reliability and the accuracy of recorded data used for temperature uniformity survey (TUS) activities.
Using a structured testing process, ADM investigated the issue and identified an incorrect temperature reference setting within the recorder as the cause of the reported drift.
To validate the findings, ADM used a software application to capture the recorder’s channel readings at one-minute intervals. The resulting data was plotted to assess measurement behaviour over time and confirm that the adjustments had resolved the problem.
Given the nature of the case, ADM recommended periodic testing to ensure that the recorder continues to perform reliably.
Why Extended Testing Matters
Gradual measurement drift can be difficult to identify through conventional point-in-time testing. Automated data logging allows instrument behaviour to be observed over an extended period, helping reveal trends that may otherwise go unnoticed.
This project demonstrates ADM’s expertise and customer-centric approach to combining conventional fault-finding with tailored automated data collection to identify configuration issues.
