Multi-functional Control Box for Liquid Level and Flow Measurement

Control Box
Liquid Level Monitoring
Flow Rate Monitoring

Accurate measurement of liquid level, volume and flow in various industrial and commercial processes is critical for maintaining efficient, reliable, and safe operations.

Why design and develop your own program for a PLC and HMI, and then build it into your own enclosure, when you could just buy a purpose-built off-the-shelf solution, and be running in a few hours?

The Pulsar 6th Gen Ultra 5 Ultrasonic Level Sensor Control Box is an industrial controller that uses level sensors to monitor liquid or solid levels, calculate flow and volume, and automatically control pumps, valves, and alarms, and can now be supplied by ADM.

The enhanced Ultra 5 is versatile and suitable for a broad range of applications, including:

  • Water and wastewater pumping stations
  • Storage and process tanks
  • Wells and wet wells
  • Open channel flow systems
  • Flumes and weirs
  • Industrial process applications
  • Chemical and pharmaceutical processes
  • Food processing
  • Power generation facilities

Benefits of Accurate Level and Flow Measurements

By providing reliable measurement and automated control functions in a single compact controller, the Ultra 5 can help operators manage pumping systems, monitor storage capacity, and respond to changing process conditions to prevent issues such as blockages, leaks, and abnormal levels. This can potentially reduce unplanned downtime, which results in higher productivity and efficiency.

Features of the Pulsar 6th Gen Ultra 5 Level Sensor

Five Programmable Relays – the Single Pole, Double Throw (SPDT) relays can be assigned and configured for pumps, valves, and alarms.

Ultrasonic Level Measurement – works with compatible ultrasonic transducers to provide non-contact level measurement for liquids and solids.

Volume Measurement – converts measured level into volume using pre-programmed tank shape calculations (including cylindrical, rectangular, cone-base, pyramid-base, sloped-base, horizontal and spherical tanks).

Also provides a 32-point linearisation function to accommodate unusual tank geometries with customised level-to-volume relationships.

Open Channel Flow Measurement - calculates flow from the measured water level upstream of a primary flow element such as a flume or weir and provides non-contact flow measurement without requiring a sensor to be installed directly into the flowing liquid.

Differential Level Measurement – measures the difference in level between the two transducers, which is particularly useful for monitoring screens, penstocks, and other potential blockage points.

When the differential level exceeds a programmed limit, the controller can activate an alarm or control relay, such as initiating a screen-cleaning mechanism.

Advanced Pump Control - offers advanced pump control features, including pump run-on, exercising, storm, aeration, and flush valve control to improve pump performance and help prevent stagnant conditions and solids build-up.

Built-in Data Logging and Communications - includes SD card data logging for recording and reviewing site measurements and operating data.

Simple Setup with UltraWizard - built-in menu system that simplifies setup and configuration, guiding users through measurement, alarm, relay, and advanced pump-control settings.
