Compression & Tension Load Cells
Compression and tension load cells provide a measurement when force is applied either through compression (squeeze) or tension (stretch). This force is applied to deform a strain gauge within the cell, such as a Wheatstone bridge. The deformation of the strain gauge alters the electrical resistance of the material, thereby changing the electrical signal passing through. This changed signal is processed to produce a measurement for users.
Compression and Tension load cells are a standard load cell type typically found in varying degrees for almost all everyday weighing applications. Laumas compression and tension load cells are usually found in weigh stations, crane weighing systems, tank weighing modules, and silo weighing modules.

Anchor Load Cells
Laumas Anchor Load Cells are a specialised type of load cell, designed to measure tensile force in anchor rods and cables in structures such as tunnels, dams, suspension bridges, and retaining walls. The hollow centre of these load cells is applied directly to either the rod or cables. When force tension begins to build, either from soil pressure or structural loading, the force is transmitted through the load cell's body.

Hygienic Load Cells
Laumas produce a select range of specialised load cells designed for hygienic applications, such as food & beverage production and pharmaceutical manufacturing. The hygienic load cells still operate under the same principle as the compression & tension load cells; however, they feature bodies designed to meet 3-A Sanitary Standards.
