ESI Technology has recently released a Pressure transmitter with RS485 serial communications.

The new GS4400 series pressure transmitters provide high stability and repeatability.

They suit a multitude of applications, with proprietary, RS-485 protocol allowing you to monitor up to 32 pressure transmitters on the same BUS.  

ESI’s unique Silicon-on-Sapphire sensor technology provides outstanding performance and gives excellent stability over a wide temperature range. The pressure sensor can endure higher over-pressures and the technology provides superb corrosion resistance, with virtually no hysteresis and excellent long-term stability.  

The GS4400 series pressure transmitters are ideal for the continuous monitoring of hydraulic systems with oil, gas, water, and other process liquids. As well as many other industrial, medical, and aerospace applications. They are perfect for the measurement of pressure in refrigeration, pneumatic, compressors, HVAC, and engine systems. 

One application that springs to mind is hose and pipe leak detection and burst tests. 

This is because the ESI GS4400 pressure transmitters are also compatible with ESI’s free interface logging software, which is also supplied with the GD4200 series USB pressure transmitters

The advantage of using a RS485 pressure transmitter instead of a USB device is that it can transmit data over distances of 500 to 1000 meters.  

This means the logging PC does not have to be in a potentially harsh environment while it is logging data.
