Pulsar Measurement Ultrasonic Flow Meters
Measuring the flow of pipelines can help determine the efficiency of a system, identifying potential maintenance issues, such as blockages or leaks, or even used as a quality data input to support another aspect of a production process.
Ultrasonic flow meter systems are non-invasive and require a simple installation, simply requiring that they are mounted to the pipeline, and users can quickly begin capturing flow rate data. These systems can be used in a variety of applications, including wastewater applications, industrial water applications, civil water management and much more.
Pulsar Measurement have become a world leader in the ultrasonic flow meter space, providing non-invasive solutions to provide quick and accurate flow meter measurement of pipelines across a range of industries.
The Pulsar Measurement ultrasonic flow meters are divided into two distinct measurement principles: Doppler ultrasonic measurement and transit-time ultrasonic measurement.
Doppler Ultrasonic Flow Meters
Doppler is the preferred method of ultrasonic flow metering in dirty water applications, as the transducer produces a signal into the liquid, and the reflected signal is pitch-shifted by the moving media, enabling the system to calculate the rate of flow based on this change in frequency.

Transit-Time Ultrasonic Flow Meters
By contrast, Transit-time is the preferred ultrasonic method of flow metering in clean water applications. This method requires two instruments, both a transducer and a receiver. The transducer is placed at the beginning of the pipeline, producing a signal which is captured by the receiving instrument located a little further down the pipeline. Although it is only nano-seconds in variance, the time taken from the signal produced by the transducer carried by the liquid to the receiver correlates with the rate of flow within.
Pulsar Measurement have crafted solutions for these ultrasonic flow meters for both temporary and permanent fixtures, each enabling users to quickly access flow rate data, setting alarms and relay outputs to allow control over other aspects of their water production application.
